The Tea Parties were part protest, part social gathering and yet were all inspired by the common sentiment that enough is enough. The tea parties sprouted, grew, modified, re-formed, split into two, sent out shoots, combined into one and cross-bred many times forming numerous combination and hybrids. Many original tea party groups changed their name, or members of these groups formed new groups with different names and different emphases. These combination yielded many permutations, many groups, and a great variety of efforts. We and most likely they still, however take the Tea Party movement as the original inspiration for this unprecedented phenomenon.

Tea Party Initiative means we do things in the spirit of the tea parties. While it is fashionable for citizens to complain about their government, it is not until recent times that average citizens have taken to assembling in public places with complete strangers in order to protest the current state of affairs and alter the dangerous and frightening course our government has embarked upon.

While these efforts have been slow to develop, the growth of the Tea Party movement has had a historic and profound effect upon the American policy. While Enough is Enough might have been the sentiment of those participants in the nascent tea party movement, it might well be said that the new sentiment is We are here to stay. No longer will we American citizens eschew the important business of governing our republic; nor will we continue to yield our civic responsibility to others. To do so will only encourage and permit men and women of lesser character to violate our freedoms.
